French is a Romance language of the Indo-European family. He descended from the vulgar Latin of the Roman Empire, like all Romance languages. French has evolved from Gallo-Romanesque, Latin spoken in Gaul and more precisely in northern Gaul.
French was formed in France (variety of “langue d’oïl”, which is the language of the northern part of the country) and is today spoken on all continents by about 274 million people including 212 million people. ‘use 76 million daily, being native speakers. However, the use retains its rights and many people who popularized this living language, in the forefront of which Rabelais and Molière: it is also question of the “language of Molière”.
